FAQ

Prevailing Wage Questions, Answered

Prevailing wage is the minimum hourly rate, including fringe benefits, that must be paid to construction workers on public works projects. Federally funded construction falls under the Davis-Bacon Act, and state funded projects follow state law. In California, for example, prevailing wage applies to most public works construction over $1,000. If your project uses any public money, from a school district bond to a federal grant, assume prevailing wage applies until confirmed otherwise.
